MEng Engineering with Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Cambridge
Adam was sponsored by Rolls-Royce through the ‘Arkwright’ engineering scholarship scheme, which led to enrolment reading Engineering at the University of Cambridge, specialising in semiconductor design and power electronics.
Following his graduation in 2010, Adam undertook an internship at Intelligent Energy working in data analytics and asset management. He then took a position at GE Energy Power Conversion in Rugby in 2012, where he led teams designing multi-megawatt synchronous and induction machines in both generating and motoring applications for the oil and gas, power generation and marine propulsion industries.
He became a product leader in marine synchronous diesel generators and managed GE’s product portfolio for that industry. This involved cost reduction, market alignment and failure analysis alongside his normal duties in machine core electromagnetic and mechanical design. Adam was involved in both civil and military projects as design engineer or as a problem investigator and had leading involvement in efforts to integrate lessons learned into the design process.
Outside his vocation, Adam is an active glider pilot and does work in aviation safety assessment and management.
Adam joined Hawkins in August 2017 as an Associate based in our Cambridge office.
