Hawkins entertains guests at the Dubai International Financial Centre

Despite the hectic pre-Christmas social schedule, many Hawkins clients took time out on Tuesday 5 December to attend our networking function in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Andy Bryce, one of our materials’ engineers, gave a presentation on the wide range of sources and the usefulness of data in conducting forensic investigations, including a case study concerning the failure of multiple turbo-generators by sub-synchronous resonance cracking of their rotor shafts.

Nick Coogan then gave a nautical presentation, outlining the range of failure types that occur on and around ships, including mis-declared/dangerous cargoes, materials failures of lashings and contamination/incorrect stowage of various cargoes.

The Hawkins team and our guests then retired to Caramel, where refreshments were had until late into the evening.
