One aspect of our work is investigating fires caused by appliances which are known to have a problem. A case in point is the recent crop of fires involving Beko fridge freezers. The London Fire Brigade said a fire in London last week, which was originally thought to have been caused by a lightning strike, was caused by a Beko appliance.

Up to 500,000 fridge freezers could be posing serious fire risks in homes and businesses across the country, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) has warned.

Beko has been alerted to the problem which the LFB says has caused 20 fires and one death in London since 2008. It seems that there have been previous product recalls and that not all owners have contacted Beko to have the potential fault fixed. The work is done free of charge.
