Annual Football Competition
Published: 17th October 2011
The annual football competition organised by and in support of The Prince's Trust took place on 15 September. This was our first year at entering the competition - as can be seen from the results! Our team Captain, Chris Botham, a senior engineer from our Manchester Office, wrote the following report:
‘‘The sun shone and the early morning mist and dew dissipated to reveal the lush green that was Regents Park. The gardeners had mowed the pitches to FA standards and the grass just begged to be played on. All was set for 32 teams to have a fine day of quality football, the thrills, the spills, the tears and the joy, what would the day bring, as the Forensix squad of 8 men and 2 women took on the might of the insurance industry.
Well, the statistics tell the story.
Played 7, drawn 1, lost 6. Goals for...."0", goals against...."27".
That aside, we played some good football, and, at times strung together some nice passing movements and we challenged relentlessly. The team fought for everything and there can be no criticism of the effort we put in. In particular Lesley and Sarah were particularly brave in the face of some large, young, powerful and quick opposition. I think we were unfortunate, at times, not to have scored but then, that's football, on occasions the better team loses!
In the group stages our opponents were:
It was great to be a part of the event and we know that our efforts and the sponsorship money has gone to assist others who are not so fortunate.
Roll on next year........’’.
