Having obtained a masters degree in Chemistry, Simon went on to study for his doctorate at the University of Nottingham. During this time he was engaged in research into the microwave manufacture of transition metal carbides. This involved the engineering of microwave reactors as well as the mechanistic study, characterisation and mechanical testing of various carbide products.

Simon was instrumental in the successful development of rapid, high grade batch processing of a number of carbide products for a variety of uses. During his time he built up a number of academic and industrial contacts as well as becoming experienced in a number of analytical techniques.

In 2008 Simon joined Hawkins, specialising as a fire investigator and has already investigated over 50 fires. Simon hopes to bring his wealth of chemical knowledge to his career at Hawkins.

Simon is currently an Associate based in our London office.
