Becoming a Carbon Neutral Organisation

In line with its ethos of social and environmental responsibility, in 2017 Hawkins took the decision to work towards becoming a carbon neutral organisation. The first stage of that process was to become a carbon assessed organisation, and Carbon Footprint Ltd. assisted us in carrying out an accurate measurement of all our scope 1 and scope 2 green house gas (GHG) emissions. This first verified assessment is now the ‘baseline’ against which GHG emmissions can be assessed and reduced year on year through a program of energy conservation measures across the companies’ global activities. For Hawkins’ first assessed year, all GHG emissions have been offset by three Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) certified projects:

Solar Power Project in IndiaSolar Power Project in India

Wind Based Power Generation in India

Wind Based Power Generation by Panama Wind in India

Tree planting in the rift valley

Hawkins will continue its work to improve the sustainability of all of its operations of which carbon neutrality will remain a vital part. For more information contact Health & Safety and Environment Director, Andy Bryce.
