Electrical Engineer Ben Adams Speaks on Rotating Electrical Machines

Ben Adams, an electrical engineer from Hawkins’ London Office, had the opportunity to speak at the International Tutorials & Colloquium on Rotating Electrical Machines. Ben presented on the CIGRE UK working group he has been leading for about 5 years with a tutorial called: “Guidance on the Requirements for High Speed Balancing/Over Speed Testing of Turbine Generator Rotors Following Maintenance or Repair”.CIGRE stands for The International Council on Large Electric Systems, and has working groups all over the world dedicated to spreading knowledge about power systems.

Ben Adams at the Rotating Electrical Machines Conference

The event took place across three days in late September in the Hotel Vivanta in New Delhi, India. This gave Ben, and all other attendees, the opportunity to meet and speak to prominent experts in the field of power generation on the subjects of turbo generators, hydro generators, and large motors of rotating electrical machines.

Each CIGRE committee comprises around 24 experts from various countries. The colloquium on rotating machines, of course hopes to further educate others in the field, with tutorials like Ben’s, but also wishes to develop the CIGRE UK working group.
