Chartered Engineers Neville Tranter, of Hawkins’ Birmingham Office, and Adrian Ratte of Hawkins’ London Office, recently travelled to Davies’ office in Stoke-on-Trent to hold a training session on investigating Escape of Water claims. They spoke to the Private Clients and Major Loss Group about identifying causes of escapes of water from various types of plumbing fittings. Along with the technical talk on how parts like compression joints can fail, Neville and Adrian also discussed how likely a recovery could be for certain failures. The highlight of the presentation was, however, when Neville and Adrian guided the participants in both making and pressure testing their own joints.
There were five groups who worked to see which team was most successful in making joints that would not leak. Although it was a bit competitive, it was a joint effort in the end.
Do the staff in your office know what makes a strong compression joint? Would you like them to find out? Please contact us to schedule a presentation from a forensic engineer at your company.
