12th October 2021
On 10th October 2021, Emily Verney, an administrator at Hawkins’ Cambridge Office, took part in the Race for Life, a charity event in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Emily signed up to run the race with her best friend of 21 years. She says, “it’s a cause close to both of us, and one that I am sure many people can relate to.” Emily also says that she and running don’t go well together, but that she has been training on most days leading up to the race, slowly increasing how long she could jog for, because she knew that on the day it would be lots of fun and for a good cause.
Emily participated in the Race for Life when she was younger, and has taken part in other charity actions and events, including cutting off her hair in 2019 to be made into a wig and raise money for the Little Princess Trust.
Emily’s fundraising page for Cancer Research can be found here. Hawkins congratulates her on finishing the race and making a difference.
