Hawkins’ Fire Investigator Gives a Webinar on Major Fire Losses for the Insurance Institute of Sussex

Ian Major, Regional Manager of Hawkins’ Reigate Office, recently gave a webinar on Major Fire Losses for the Insurance Institute of Sussex. Hawkins has found the webinar format both helpful and integral during the last two years for connecting with clients and providing insight into how our company investigates different incidents.

Ian’s webinar included case studies from major loss fire claims, where Hawkins was able to successfully assist loss adjusters, insurers, solicitors and the Court in decisions regarding recovery. Ian discussed how Hawkins gathers, assesses, and presents evidence as forensic engineers and expert witnesses in some of the larger cases we’ve encountered.

Ian Major speaks to Sussex CII

Ian’s learning objectives for the webinar included the importance of a well-managed demolition process and ensuring preservation of evidence during site clearance, as well as explaining the value of laboratory examinations of physical evidence remaining after a fire.

A representative from the Insurance Institute of Sussex said the presentation was, “extremely interesting and relevant and the case studies really illustrated the different stages and rationales of the investigation process. It was especially good to hear the outcomes, which reinforced the value of using forensics.
