09th May 2019
From 24th to 26th April 2019 the Asian Claims (AICLA) convention was held at the Sofitel Hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This year’s theme for the convention was: ‘Innovation, Disruption and Forensic Advances in Claims.’
Dr Chun Chan and Ms Jessica Ng attended from Hawkins Hong Kong, and Dr David Rose attended as a Guest Speaker from Hawkins Singapore. Hawkins was pleased to be a gold sponsor of the convention, which included lectures and presentations on, not only forensic investigation, but also subjects such as emerging risks to prepare for, and traditional vs modern crisis response in claims.
Dr David Rose presented on the first day of the convention, covering Hawkins’ notable past investigation of the train crash and derailment at Potters Bar Station, undertaken by colleague Mr Rod Newbery in 2002. This case continues to be of both relevance and interest due to its findings on the design and safety of public transportation in the UK. However, it is also an apt cautionary tale about the importance of design and maintenance of public works worldwide.
Dr David Rose & Dr Chun Chan entertain questions at the Hawkins stand. They look forward to attending AICLA again next year.
