Oscar began his career in Engineering with an apprenticeship as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at Warburtons. His responsibilities included machine maintenance, installation, and breakdowns, covering a wide range of technologies used in an industrial bakery.

After completing his apprenticeship, Oscar pursued full time studies at The University of Nottingham, graduating with a First Class MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. As part of his degree, he spent his second year at Concordia University, Montreal. In his final year, Oscar focused on power electronics and control, completing a dissertation on simulating and developing control methods for HVDC voltage converters. During his time at university, Oscar joined Siemens Digital Industries (DI) through the E3 Academy scheme, working with the company during university breaks.

Following his degree, Oscar joined Siemens as a Graduate Engineer. As part of the graduate scheme, Oscar spent a year in Berlin on Siemens’ International Tech Talents program. His work involved training on various Siemens technologies relevant to the Digital Industries branch, such as PLCs, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), robotics, and a 9-month project focused on developing an Automated Guided Vehicle.

Upon returning to the UK, Oscar worked as a Field Service Engineer within the General Motion Control department of Siemens DI. In this role, he was part of a small team covering UK wide customer sites in the commissioning, servicing, and fault finding of VSDs, ranging in size from less than 1kW, to over 1MW. Oscar has gained experience across a multitude of industries, including power stations, water treatment, recycling plants, and mining /quarry operations. 

Oscar joined Hawkins in 2025, and is an Associate based in our Bristol office.

Jack is an Electrical Engineer who started his career in 2010 by completing a JIB approved apprenticeship in Electrotechnical Technology and Installation. He qualified as an electrician working within industrial installations and completed an FdSc in Engineering with the University of Plymouth. Since qualifying, he has gone on to work in a variety of sectors within Project Engineering and Electrical Design Engineering roles, delivering projects and innovative designs across the UK and internationally.

His experience includes; electrical installations within commercial and industrial environments, water treatment and distribution, electrical installations within explosive atmospheres and ATEX regulations, physical security and anti-terror hostile vehicle mitigation systems, electrical systems for superyachts to class and flag requirements, automation of process plant including instrumented safety systems, and refrigerant gas processing and recycling.

Jack joined Hawkins in 2024 and is a Senior Associate based in our Bristol office having previously gained three years of experience as a Forensic Investigator investigating fires and engineering losses in domestic, commercial, marine, and plant and machinery environments. He is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and is working towards Chartered Engineer status with the Engineering Council. Jack is currently studying an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering with the University of Aberdeen.

David started his career in 2005, as a professional trainee at MITIE Engineering, London.

Whilst studying building services at Croydon College and later London South Bank University, David worked on installation projects including fast-track office fit-outs, major refurbishments, new builds, and high-end residential. During these projects, David was responsible for a range of building systems containing:

 

  • Lighting
  • Power Distribution
  • Data
  • Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and mission critical infrastructures
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Life Safety Systems (Fire Alarm, Disable refuge, etc)
  • Mechanical Systems
  • Security Systems (Intruder Alarms, CCTV, Access Control etc)

In 2012, David moved focus to energy projects. He began investigating demand-side energy reduction, renewable installations, and decarbonisation projects. This included working with BMS optimisation and system optimisations for mechanical and electrical systems.

From 2015, David worked with an information specialist working on major projects and BIM deliverables. Some of the projects delivered include major scientific, medical, and research laboratories.

In 2019 David joined a medical device start up, working to support the installation of proton therapy systems. This included certification, verification, and validation. David was also responsible for working on the delivery of the installations, on a site-by-site basis, assisting customers with design of their facilities and systems to support the treatment system.

David joined Hawkins in 2023 as an Associate in our Reigate office.

Ian utilised his knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering to take a number of projects from concept to manufacture. These projects included the design of microprocessor based control systems, valve actuators and gearboxes. He was also responsible for project planning and the ISO 9001 documentation for each of his designs. In 1999 Ian joined Dr J H Burgoyne & Partners LLP as a Consulting Engineer, where he specialised in the forensic investigation of fires, explosions and engineering incidents. Ian conducted around 400 investigations and was appointed on several occasions to present expert evidence in accordance with Part 35 of the CPR and also for criminal proceedings.
