We are pleased to announce that Materials Engineer, Jason Atkinson, has joined our newly opened Dublin Office.
Jason graduated from University College Dublin with a First-Class Honours Masters in Material Science and Engineering, before completing his Masters by Research in the development and optimisation of projection stereolithography additive manufacturing. During this time, his work focused on establishing a relationship between process parameters, material structure, and mechanical properties, for this manufacturing process.
Jason is also an experienced Manufacturing Engineer having been responsible for the support of production through problem-solving and fault-finding on various manufacturing processes, including laser welding, laser cutting, laser marking, linishing and electro polishing. This role included responsibility for optimising production through cost-saving and efficiency improvement projects.
His work as a Materials Engineer in an additive manufacturing department focused on developing polymer additive manufacturing processes for medical implants and instruments. As a technical expert on new process introduction projects, he was responsible for ensuring that the chosen technology would meet product requirements, to deliver both clinical and business benefits. In this role, Jason worked on Polyetheretherketone (PEEK), fibre-reinforced PEEK, nylon, and titanium printing projects. He also led a software assessment project, testing and establishing an additive manufacturing software platform, to find a platform capable of digitally connecting the product development chain from part design, through to manufacture.
