It is a pleasure to welcome electro-mechanical engineer Adam Ashing to our team in Glasgow. Adam graduated from The University of Cambridge with a First Class Honours and brings to Hawkins several years’ experience spanning a broad range of industries. Having started his career working on explosives, ballistics and failure analysis; this involved the design and implementation of shaped charges for demolitions of large structures, the effects of high-velocity impacts on aeroplane components, and the mathematical modelling of air cannon ballistics for aerodynamic acceleration testing.
Following this, Adam created jigs and protocols for rigorous testing on medical prosthetics, involving analysing various organic and artificial products, and performing lifting, fatigue and abrasion tests.
Adam worked as a multidisciplinary engineer, carrying out projects such as performing stress, deflection and structural analysis, executing full process mechanical design from early research and development to Design for Manufacturing (DfM), and designing mechatronic and software for sub-millimetre precision movement robotics.
We are delighted to welcome Adam on board.
