After an outstanding career spanning over three decades specialising in road traffic collisions, and leading more than 500 investigations, Hawkins is sad to announce the retirement of Damian Mutch, Principal Associate based in our Reigate office.
Damian began his professional journey after graduating in Applied Physics from Liverpool Polytechnic in 1988. He went on to serve with distinction in Kent Police for over 18 years, where he specialised in forensic collision investigation. His expertise, dedication, and analytical precision made him a trusted figure in both criminal and civil investigations.
Damian’s colleague James Wade had this to say:
“After a decade of working alongside Damian, it’s hard to imagine the team without him. He is responsible for most of my training, and I will miss his words of wisdom and support. His ability to bring clarity to complex situations have made a lasting impact.
Whilst we will all miss him, we are thrilled that he can now trade in the high-vis jacket and trundle wheel for time with his family and dogs, not to mention his hot tub!”
Since joining Hawkins in 2007, Damian has been instrumental in advancing our capabilities in road traffic collision reconstruction, video analysis, and vehicle examinations. His work has supported numerous high-profile cases, and he has regularly provided expert testimony in courts across the UK, including the High Court and Coroner’s Court.
Damian’s contributions have left a lasting impact on our team and the wider forensic community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Damian for his years of service and wish him a fulfilling and well-deserved retirement.
