We are pleased to welcome Louisa Laing to our London office as a valued addition to our team of chemistry experts. Louisa brings to Hawkins a strong background in materials science, chemistry and electro-optical physics.
Graduating with a Masters degree in Chemistry, Louisa developed expertise in analytical and materials science. Her early career involved working on conductive nanomaterials for printed electronics, later focusing on the development and characterisation of nanocopper pastes as a research scientist.
She spent over six years leading research into advanced material systems for defence applications. As Team Leader of the Electro Optical Physics group, Louisa oversaw projects involving coatings, textiles, and composite camouflage materials. Her work included the design and testing of novel materials using optical and infrared measurement techniques. She regularly collaborated with military stakeholders and legal teams on intellectual property development and presented technical findings to the NATO Science and Technology Organisation.
Louisa brings extensive experience in technical investigation, data interpretation, and scientific communication. She has authored reports for government and industry clients, contributed to multiple patent applications, and provided mentorship and training within her teams.
