Jack is a Chartered Civil Engineer, specialising in geotechnics. He has a first class bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Nottingham Trent University and a master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering from The University of Birmingham. Following graduation, Jack spent seven years at AtkinsRéalis, where he carried out geotechnical design and consultancy work on a range of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects. During this time, Jack gained particular experience in the design of deep and shallow foundations, retaining structures, reinforced earth, slope stabilisation measures and earthworks. He also spent time on site, supervising both construction and ground investigation works for highways, rail and water projects. Jack also has experience in the assessment and mitigation of risk posed by historical mine workings for development sites in the UK.
Since joining Hawkins in January 2025, Jack has investigated a range of built environment cases related to civil, structural and geotechnical issues. In particular, he specialises in cases related to ground movement, groundwater, foundations, retaining walls, earthworks and underground structures. Jack is also an A2 Certificate of Competence (A2CofC) certified drone pilot and can conduct aerial surveys and structural inspections for cases on large, complex or dangerous sites.
