Hawkins Welcomes New Fire Investigator, Lucy Pinkard

Completing her Masters in Forensic Investigation of Explosives and Explosions from the University of Cranfield Forensic Institute, Lucy brings to Hawkins a great level of knowledge and experience in fire investigation at a domestic and commercial level, including white goods fires, arson, plant and electrical incidents. Having completed her thesis in the subject area of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries, she now lectures for Cranfield University’s fire investigation and crime scene investigation studies, in addition to training and inspiring future forensic scientists at University College London.

Prior to spending 15 years with Avon and Somerset Constabulary, she worked as an analytical scientist in the pharmaceutical sector, specialising in spectroscopic techniques. During her career with the Police, Lucy held various roles such as Crime Scene Manager and DNA Laboratory Analyst, investigating volume, serious and major crime scenes, often on high-profile cases. She was also a Forensic Fire Investigator, investigating crimes involving arson, endangerment of life and murder. Lucy has delivered evidence in both Crown and Magistrates Court, also receiving a police commendation for her commitment and dedication.

Lucy’s extensive knowledge of forensic fire investigation and previous experience within the Police has equipped her with valuable insights that will strengthen the current Hawkins team. We are delighted to welcome Lucy to Hawkins.
