Craig is a highly experienced collision investigator and has been investigating road traffic collisions since 2006. He is a Chartered Forensic Practitioner in Collision Investigation and has international casework experience across South America, Africa, and Europe.

Following his MSc, which focused on road safety, and the start of a PhD in criminology researching how big data and machine learning could reduce road collisions, he accepted a role at the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL). Craig became the Technical Lead for the Forensic Investigations team and led forensic collision investigation work for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Craig is a digital data specialist and holds advanced qualifications in forensic video analysis and digital data. He is a Level 4 LEVA Certified Forensic Video Technician (CFTV) and has experience in video enhancement, comparison, and audio analysis. In addition, Craig has extensive experience with a wide range of digital data sources including tachographs, event data recorders, accelerometers, and telematics, and has consulted on cases involving connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), e-bikes, and e-scooters.

Craig is an experienced expert witness and has prepared expert reconstruction reports, joint expert statements, and acted as a Single Joint Expert (SJE). In addition, he has given evidence across the judiciary including Criminal, Civil, and Coroner’s Courts, as well as Public Inquiries. His practice predominantly focuses on civil litigation cases, although he also accepts instructions in criminal matters.

Craig is the Honorary Secretary for the Chartered Society of Forensic Science and sits on the editorial board for Elsevier’s Science & Justice Journal. He is a peer reviewer for both the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and Elsevier, and regularly acts as a subject matter expert on speed analysis for the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA).

Craig joined Hawkins in January 2026 as a Development Manager and Forensic Collision Investigator, based in Hawkins’ Manchester office.
