Luke has over twelve years of experience across a range of disciplines and has extensive knowledge of forensic practices. He graduated from Coventry University in 2009 with an Upper Second Class BSc (Hons) in Forensic and Investigative Studies.
In 2011, Luke joined Thames Valley Police, initially as a Police Community Support Officer, before becoming a Crime Scene Investigator in 2013. He attended a wide variety of crime scenes, including failed-to-stop road traffic collisions, and contributed to several high-profile cases. His responsibilities included managing crime scenes and developing training programmes for new staff.
Luke became a Forensic Collision Investigator with Thames Valley Police and Hampshire Constabulary in 2019. He led investigations at live scenes involving serious injury and fatal road traffic collisions, identifying and recovering evidence, conducting on-site testing, and overseeing the scene examination. Luke is proficient in 3D laser scanning, coefficient of friction testing, line-of-sight assessments, scene photography, and interpreting collision-related marks. His investigations covered all types of road users, from pedestrians and cyclists to heavy goods vehicles. During this time, he also qualified as an advanced police driver.
Luke has authored Expert Witness reports for both criminal and coronal courts, he has provided Expert Witness testimony in Magistrates’, Crown, and Coroner’s Courts. He is skilled in reconstructing collisions both physically and digitally using 3D- laser scan data and Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and has experience in interpreting vehicle damage profiles to provide expert opinions on collision scenarios.
Luke joined Hawkins in September 2025 as an Associate, based in our Birmingham office.
