This month, we proudly celebrate a major milestone for Fire and Explosions expert, Dr Anna Knight, who marks two decades of service at Hawkins. Since joining Hawkins in 2005, Anna has become a leading figure in fire and explosion investigation, working on over 900 cases, and is a respected Principal Associate based in our Reigate office.
Anna’s journey began with a strong academic foundation, gaining a BSc in Natural Science from the University of Bath, followed by an MSc in Forensic Engineering and Science, and a PhD in non-destructive depth profiling tomography from Cranfield University. Her early career included placements with the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency and the Lothian and Borders Police Forensic Science Laboratory, where she honed her skills in forensic analysis.
At Hawkins, Anna has led investigations into a wide range of fire and explosions, from small domestic fires to large-scale industrial incidents, and other insurance related incidents, including theft investigations and paint spills. Her scientific rigor and impartial approach have earned her the trust of insurers, legal professionals, and law enforcement agencies across the UK. Anna is also a certified expert witness, having completed the Bond Solon training, and holds Fire Protection Association certifications that further enhance her investigative capabilities.
Reflecting on her time with Hawkins, Anna said, “I can’t quite believe that it has been 20 years since I joined Hawkins! It certainly doesn’t feel like it has been that long. I have had the privilege of working alongside some lovely people over the years, and I have been involved in a wide range of interesting cases, which I think has contributed to the feeling of time passing so quickly. Hawkins has grown and changed so much over the last two decades, and I am thrilled to have been a part of its evolution and growth. Here’s to many more years of success together!”
Beyond her casework, Anna provides support to fellow investigators and regularly contributes to professional development through webinars and training sessions. Anna’s 20-year journey is a testament to her experience and expertise.
