Siobhán has over eight years’ experience investigating road traffic collisions and researching improvements in road safety. Graduating from the University of Surrey in 2016 with a first-class MEng (Hons) in Medical Engineering, Siobhán completed an industrial placement year at Pall Corporation developing medical grade filters. She then joined the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) as a graduate researcher within their safety group, conducting studies into the vulnerable road user, bus and heavy goods vehicle sectors.
Using relevant literature, collision databases and police files, she calculated casualty reduction benefits associated with the implementation of new passive and active safety measures, and has contributed to regulation and directive updates and proposals. Siobhan became a collision investigator within the road accident in depth studies team in 2017, where her work included attending live collision scenes and using forensic investigation techniques to identify the root cause of the collision and injuries sustained. Owing to her time with TRL, she became experienced with occupant and vulnerable road user protection, injury biomechanics, and investigating vehicle crashworthiness.
In 2020 Siobhán joined Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Constabulary as a Forensic Collision Investigator. She led investigations at live scenes of fatal and life-threatening road traffic collisions, to obtain and evaluate evidence in order to reconstruct the collision. She gained experience of both physical and desktop-based reconstructions, CCTV analysis and collisions involving (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) ADAS systems, and is qualified as an advanced Police driver. She has produced numerous reports which have been used in many Court proceedings and has given evidence in the capacity of an Expert Witness in both Coroner’s and Crown Court.
Siobhán joined Hawkins in February 2025 as an Associate based in our London office.
