Hawkins Welcomes Materials Engineer Dr James Davidson

We are delighted to welcome Materials Engineer Dr James Davidson to Hawkins as an Associate based in our London Office. 

James brings a strong academic and research background in materials engineering. He graduated from Swansea University with a BEng and MSc, during which he completed a year-long internship with Airbus UK, gaining hands-on experience in part compliance and failure analysis. 

Following his Master’s, James earned a PhD in Materials Engineering at Imperial College London, where his research focused on developing and characterising tungsten diboride ceramics, a key material for neutron shielding in advanced nuclear fusion designs. His work included pioneering sintering processes and experimentally characterising mechanical and thermal properties for the first time. 

After completing his doctorate, James continued as a postdoctoral researcher, advancing manufacturing processes for industrial-scale applications and publishing in leading journals.  

We are excited to have James join our team and look forward to the expertise he brings to Hawkins.
